A Tennessee Waltz – 2010
A TENNESSEE WALTZ
2010
at the State Capitol
A Tennessee Waltz is a formal gala with cocktails, seated dinner and dancing held in Tennessee’s historic State Capitol, one of the oldest working capitols.
Our proud capitol was built from 1845-1859, designed by William Strickland of Philadelphia, the architect of the day, who considered it to be his crowning achievement and is buried in the building’s northeast corner.
Hosted by the Volunteer State’s seated Governor and First Lady with gala co-chairs for the benefit of the TN State Museum Foundation.
Now in its 18th year, the highlight of the gala is always the performance of the country standard, “Tennessee Waltz,” by a legendary entertainer. Among the musical luminaries who have performed are Lyle Lovett, Steve Winwood, Donna Summer, Alison Krauss & the Union Station Band, John Hiatt, Olivia Newton-John, Brooks & Dunn, and Patti Page, who first made the song famous in 1950.
The evening is limited to 320 guests.
