Nashville Under Water

Nashville is under water and the damage is colossal.

In downtown Nashville alone, the estimate totals over a billion dollars.

My sister’s house in Franklin was spared but her neighbors weren’t.  A teacher at my daughter’s school in Green Hills, her home floated right off the foundation and was swept away down the street…as if it were an inflatable raft.

Parts remain untouched.  We were lucky.  We live high on a hill and only lost power for hours…not days as many have endured.

I’ve known Rob McDonald for over 30 years.  It doesn’t surprise me at all that he was able to help how he did.  The fact that he’s an advertising exec/filmmaker who’s good with a boat is the kind of guy you can find in Nashville.

How you respond to crisis is a measure of your character.  How a community responds is a measure of an entire culture.

Nashville is a special community of people who pull together and, even in times like these, look for the art among the devastation.
